Frequently asked questions

Is FragranceIQ free?

Free accounts get 2 full price lookups per month (a lookup = opening the complete price comparison, AI verdict, and history for a fragrance — re-checking one you already opened is free), plus 3 active price alerts, the assistant, and the collection manager. Plus (A$15/month) unlocks 20 lookups and 10 alerts. Premium (A$25/month) is for serious collectors: unlimited everything, AI collection analysis, and advanced analytics. Credits reset on the 1st of each month.

How accurate are the prices?

Prices refresh automatically through our retailer integration layer — hot products hourly, others up to daily. Every offer passes validation that quarantines suspicious data. Always confirm the final price at the retailer.

What do the verdicts mean?

GOOD DEAL: a near-record price, well below the 90-day average. BUY NOW: within a few percent of the 90-day low and not falling. WAIT: a better price is likely. OVERPRICED: even the cheapest offer is well above what this fragrance usually costs.

How do price alerts work?

Set a target (e.g. "Dior Sauvage at $150") and we check the market hourly. When your target hits, you get an email and the alert deactivates until you re-arm it. Free accounts include 3 active alerts, Plus 10, Premium unlimited.

Are the price predictions guaranteed?

No — they are statistical estimates from 90 days of observed pricing, always shown with the reasoning and a disclaimer. Treat them as guidance, not promises.

Do you sell perfume?

No. We compare retailers and link you to them. Purchases, shipping, and returns are handled entirely by the retailer.

How is my data used?

Your account data powers your own features (alerts, collection, recommendations). Outbound click statistics are recorded against an anonymous session id, never your identity. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Are the fragrances authentic?

You always buy directly from the retailer, never from us — and we build the comparison with authenticity in mind. Marketplace listings (like eBay Australia) are automatically restricted to new, sealed products from established sellers with 97%+ positive feedback; testers, decants and "inspired-by" listings are excluded; and eBay purchases carry the eBay Money Back Guarantee, so a misdescribed item gets refunded. Department-store and chemist retailers source through authorised distribution. If authenticity is critical for you, buy the authorised-stockist option in the comparison — and see our Journal guide on spotting fakes.

Which retailers do you track?

We track the major Australian fragrance retailers — chemist chains, department stores, and specialist online perfumeries — across every common bottle size. Retailer coverage grows as we add integrations; niche houses that restrict distribution (for example Louis Vuitton boutiques) may show limited pricing.

Can I request a fragrance you don’t have?

Yes — use the contact page and name the fragrance and concentration. Requests directly shape which bottles we add next, and popular requests are usually live within days.

What are the star ratings on products?

Community ratings from FragranceIQ members who own or have worn the fragrance. Reviews are moderated, verified owners are badged, and ratings are never weighted by any commercial relationship.

Why do you show a "similar fragrances" section?

Because the smartest purchase is sometimes a different bottle: a close relative of your target may be dramatically cheaper, longer-lasting, or simply better value. Similarity comes from shared notes, families and style — computed from our own catalogue data.

How do I cancel Premium?

From your dashboard, any time. Cancelling keeps Premium active until the end of the paid period, then your account returns to the free tier without losing your saved data, collection, or history.
